Our practice is a leader in diagnosing and treating TMJ disorders. TMJ stands for temporomandibular joints, the two small hinges that hold your jaw to your skull. When the TMJs are misaligned, a patient can suffer from headaches, neck pain, tooth wear, improper jaw function, and many other nagging symptoms. If your bite is not correct, you may have trouble chewing and even speaking properly.
Dr. Cole uses non-surgical TMJ therapy to correct bite alignment. We may recommend building up teeth with composite resin or crowns to restore proper bite alignment. In many cases, a custom-made oral splint worn at night can reposition the jaw and relieve symptoms. Sometimes pain is so longstanding and deep-seated that extended therapy is required. In these cases, Dr. Cole will help you manage your pain by addressing structural, nutritional, neurological, or metabolic issues. This may include referrals for medical, osteopathic, or chiropractic consultation or referral to a physical therapist, massage therapist, athletic trainer, acupuncturist, nutritionist, or naturopath who will work with us to relieve TMJ pain and improve your health.
Dr. Stacy Cole and our team provide comprehensive dental care for a lifetime of optimal oral health and sensational smiles. Our Fort Worth dental office serves patients from Benbrook, Haltom City, and the greater DFW area. Call today to reserve your TMJ consultation with Dr. Stacy.
